A perfect balance of glass fiber and nylon come together for a stiff base to push your power into the pedals, instead of letting it flex away and dissipate. It’s topped with aggressively lugged rubber for tacky control when you’re hopping over hurdles, or hiking up a particularly treacherous stretch of trail. At front there are two mounting spots for spikes, if you’re heading out in particularly slick or icy conditions. Wrapping up your foot on top is a tough synthetic with perforations to let your feet breathe, and a large mesh panel at the front to keep your toe box breezy and hot-foot free. The uppers secure around you with Shimano’s Cross X-strap hook-and-loop straps that secure in alternating directions to ensure you’re wrapped in snug for minimal wiggle on crushing climbs.
